Brief History of Roberta Rose Kirschenbaum

Roberta Rose Kirschenbaum, a native New Yorker, began dancing at the age of four and pursued a dance career. She discovered Pilates in 1984 with her first mentors Carola Trier, a direct disciple of Joseph Pilates, and Edilio Ferarro. She continued to train and teach with Carola until her retirement. She continued her studies with other disciples including Kathy Grant, Naja Cori, and Romana Kryzanowski. She continues to study with her most influential mentor, Kathy Grant, the director of the Pilates program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Since 1999, she has worked with members of the NYC Ballet and opened her present studio in February 2005, at the original site where Joseph and Clara Pilates lived and worked. It is a fully equipped studio, including the rare Guillotine. In addition, Roberta holds a M.A. degree in Exercise Physiology and is a licensed Massage Therapist, (LMT), specializing in Reflexology.
