About - Reflexology
General Overview
Reflexology is a modality in which the reflexologist applies pressure to the feet to bring balance and harmony to the body.
In Reflexology the organs and systems of the body correspond with specific points on the feet. These points may also be analogous to the meridians you'll find in eastern philosophies, such as Ayurvedic, Chinese and Japanese medicine, which are used to balance the internal mechanisms of the body. We also believe in honoring the Western approach of just dealing with the intrinsic musculature. A balance of both to create balance.
Why Reflexology?
Reflexology is for people of all ages. It can be used to relax the mind and body and decrease stress. You don't need an ailment to get reflexology, you just need tired feet. So come on
“Treat Your Feet.”
What to Expect on Your First Visit
On your first visit, we will do an intake concerning your state of health (current and past). You will then relax in a comfortable chair, remove your socks and have your feet washed. The session is now ready to begin. All sessions last approximately one hour.
Results
While reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, it has been shown to be effective for a variety of conditions such as headaches, back pain, sleeplessness and elimination issues.
In general, people feel relaxed, renewed and more grounded. Some people report that they sleep better and assimilate and eliminate their food better, like they've been massaged from the inside out. Some people just fall asleep. It is important to let your reflexologist know what your reactions are to each session. This will help them tailor your sessions to your specific needs in the future.
